We interviewed Pearl Chua from KL Shao Roast about her wanton noodles and why she switched from being a corporate worker to a hawker. We voted KL Shao Roast as one of the top wanton mee stalls in the Joo Chiat area! Review and stall location here: http://hgw.sg/vbm3g

If you see Pearl Chua's KL char siew and her wantan mee stall in Joo Chiat area Singapore - reviewed above - you will know why KL Cantonese-style char siew is the world's best!
This is Yulek Wan Tan Mee in Taman Cheral, KL, and the boss lady serves the best char siew and wantan mee in the whole of Klang Valley! Just look at the large portions of char siew she gives with each plate of wantan mee - selling at the glorious price of RM8.00 per plate! (Inflasi: used to be RM6.50/plate!).

Her best-sellers are char siew, pai kuat (roast pork rib - very irritating - as forever run out before lunch! - and siew yoke (roast pork), fried wantan and fried sui kow!
I am a wantan mee addict, and this is my favorite stall - I usually order 1 1/2 wantan mee konlo (dry) with char siew/pai kuat + 3 pcs wantan in soup + 1 bowl 10pcs extra wantan, and it costs me the princely sum of RM12.00! It is really "Ho Chak!" (ho chiak - or good eat!).
From the Centerpoint, Bandar Utama, PJ, there is now a so-called "Hong Kong Wantan Mee" stall - and ordering similar 1 1/2 konlo mee as this Yulek stall (but here, only give few small miserable pieces of char siew, no pai kuat or siew yoke!) + 1 bowl wantan (5 big pcs) - my cost: RM22.00! Shito!

Yulek Wan Tan Mee 友力云吞面Cheras, KL

A few weekends ago, we had mad cravings for wantan mee.... so when morning came, I said to Hubby "Let's go hunting for a good plate of wantan mee".

We ended up at Yulek Wantan Mee in Taman Cheras; we used to patronise them when they were still located in Restoran Meng Shiang just down the road. Recently, they were also ranked as the #2 best wantan mee in Malaysia by popular TV food show, HoChak!.

We made a mistake of going for grocery shopping first and then turning up here on a Sunday morning at 11am. If you come here on weekends, be prepared to wait - we waited for almost 45 minutes for our order. The owner will come to your table to take your order.

We were sat right at the front of the restaurant, so caught some kitchen action :)

Take photos while waiting... kids patiently waiting for their noodles

You can choose from various toppings such as char siew, siew yuk, braised chicken feet and pork ribs. You can also order side dishes such as sui kow and fried wantans. Hubby went for the siew yuk wantan mee (RM7) and the rest of us went for wantan mee with char siew (RM5.50).

It was certainly worth the wait as the noodles were excellent. Love the delicious dark sauce that coats the springy noodles. Do remember to ask for the "pun fei sau 半肥瘦" (half lean half fat) char siew as it literally melts in the mouth and is so tender. Each serving of wantan noodles comes with a small bowl of soup with three pork wantans.

Hubby's siew yuk was nice and crispy too

Baby C's plate - Lean but still tender.

I got the half fat hat lean char siew... woohoo!

Will definitely return for this!
